Key Elements Of Performance Management. 

 Key Elements Of Performance Management.

The main purpose of using performance management systems is to get best performance from the employees. But the most employees consider employee performance issues in bad manner. The real purpose of employee management systems are established to avoid serious problems and promote positive workforce behaviors that drive productivity and success. 

According to Krishnan S. (2013), there are seven elements of effective performance management and by following effective performance management systems can take the better output from the employees to the organizational goals.

  1. Performance Target Setting.
  • Capture the organizational goals with different functional heads. 
  • Use a balanced scorecard to capture different goals. 
  • Goal setting after discussion with manager and employee.  
  • Managers should explain their goals to employees.  
  • Use the SMART framework when defining the goals. 

 

     2.Continuous Feedback. 

  • Assess the performance at regular intervals. 
  • Give feedback on the deliverables.  
  • Document feedback for future reference.  
  • Provide support and training based on feedback.  
  • Change the responsibilities based on the progress.

     3. Evaluation and Feedback.

  • Perform self-appraisal to get their own feedback.  
  •  Calculate final rating based on the overall parameter on each of the goals. 
  •  Consider manager judgment rather than mathematical way. 
  •  Record performance-related related statistics for decision-making making. 
  •  Provide negative feedback clearly to the employee with the evidence.

   4. Competency Evaluation and Development. 

  • Collect evidence from multiple resources to make decisions.  
  • Do not evaluate if you don't have evidence.  
  • Identify the reason for the lack of competency.   
  • Use multiple ways to develop competencies.  
  • Provide opportunities to develop competencies.

   5. Career Planning and Development.

  • Get contributions from everyone when performing career planning.  
  • Have career performance discussions based on the performance level.  
  • Use fast-tracks programs to continuously review built.  
  • Check the strengths and weaknesses of the employees when planning. 

  6. Outcomes management.

  • Do not make decisions based on one consecutive cycle.   
  • Document learning and development actions for later review.  
  • Develop a plan to support employees with poor performance.  
  • Communicate fairly and respectfully.

  7. Culture, Process, and system.

  • Identifying high-performance employees is a critical factor in business growth and rewarding them. 
  • Document various aspects of performance management and share them with employees.   
  • A Use systematic approach for performance management.  
  • Consider the compliance and legal dimensions of performance management.   
  • Do not misuse performance management results for penalizing employees
